Back to reality
September 16th, 2005
Well, that’s it, I guess. A mad month of visas, embassies, copious amounts of beer, and…well, copious amounts of beer. But now it is over and the walk begins again.
Gary left yesterday, and is already halfway back down to M’Hamid. I am staying for a couple more days before catching a direct flight to Marrakech – the only solution to the issues I had with the EU and Spain in particular. Two weeks from now we will be walking through the desert with our newly purchased camels.
Like any holiday, it has gone so fast, and I seem to have had little time to catch up with all the people I had planned to. I haven’t even got around to really sorting through my backpack yet – which is possibly why I keep running out of clean clothes. Sorry, gross moment there.
Our friends and family have been wonderful, putting up with us both for weeks on end, feeding us magnificent food and booze, and putting up with me enthusiastically indulging my rediscovered nicotine habit (one makes the most of these things whilst one can). We would like to particularly thank Tony and Andrew, Jo, and Sarah and James for accommodating us both so generously. It has been bliss to see you all again.
I am keeping this one short, as hopefully in a week or so I can put a proper post up with pics of our camels, and of us looking rather stupid and somewhat more rotund than in the last shots. We are both really excited about resuming our adventure, and look forward to moving on after a long and indulgent rest break.
Catch you back in Morocco.

Wish you all the best. I have a question. If you’ve just been on holiday, what is it that you’re now going back to? – certainly not the office
