Still Going Strong
February 1st, 2007
The newly acquired satellite phone is thankfully working perfectly but strictly limited in use because of astronomical call cost. So yet another brief call 1st. February puts Paula at 17 10'N 4 10'W and about 9 days from Timbuktu. The days since the last posting have not been without drama, plus diversions from the shortest route have to be made to avoid tall prickly scrub, nevertheless progress is good and spirits are high.

Hi Hon, it’s never too late for a Happy New Year! Hope all is well. I haven’t caught up on everything on your site but I hope to find time to catch up some more. Keep up the good walk! I’m as crap as ever at keeping in touch - but I just want you to know that I’m thinking of you and wishing you well. Bromley Road is not the same without you but then again nothing ever remains the same as time marches on. Ze is back in Portugal so Steve, Rod and I went to visit her 2 weekends back - we had a lovely time. I couldn’t help but think that you’d walked all the way there from London. Wow - it too over 2 hours by air!!! Sorry this is so short - I’ve got to get this mess of a room cleared up and make dinner - so I’m signing off for now. Just take care of yourself and hopefully we’ll catch up in more details shorlty.
Lots of love - Steph
