It Is Finally Here
1 comment August 1st, 2004
Well, it is 6.30 am on the 1st of August, and it looks as though we are actually going to do this. The room finally resembles a room as averse to a bomb site, the packs are sitting like baby elephants in the corner, and we both have reasonable sized hangovers (thankyou Matt and Andrea for wreaking your final revenge). I have absolutely no idea where our possessions have gone. Don’t care, either. We were both exceedingly glad to see the back of the boxes, and have sworn, as we are wont to do, that never again shall we accumulate so much stuff. At least this time it is actually true, if only for a couple of years!
We are both a bit amazed that it is finally here. Even yesterday morning it seemed rather surreal. But today it is a fantastic feeling – obviously It’ll be slightly different by the time I’ve lugged this monster pack to Greenwich – and I am just so glad we are doing this at last. So, in the manner of all good departures, we just wanted to post a brief note to thank all those who have helped us on our way. You all know who you are, and there are too many to thank. But we know that we never could have got here without the good humour and support of many people, not least our long suffering families! For the jokes, the smiles, coffees, beers, and long discussions, we thankyou from the bottom of our hearts. And hopefully we will make it further than Dover.
Ah well, hope you are all down at Trafalgar Square today – apparantly there is a triathlon leaving from there, so at least it will look as though we have loads of mates – and otherwise, I guess we will catch you down the line.
