Home again, and missing you both very much. Would love to be covering part of the Portuguese trail. Sounds idyllic. Good luck with the red, though from the previous email it sounds as if white is the go. I managed to make it back to Australia without mishap (no lost tickets or mobiles) and as soon as I figure out how to load a sim card will be able to text you again on my old number). Aus is having the coldest February I can recall -- not quite as bad as Santiago was, thank heavens, but had enough. An enormous black hole 'burped' just before I left Australia and I understand the resultant bubbles of gas knocked the world slightly off centre. Maybe that's what done it! Good luck, Cecile, with your first book!

Looking forward to more news, lots of love, Mum.

Dear Paula and Garry, it is so nice to follow you although the news about the wine are not so great! Ah! the wine in spain....but the people in Portugal! How interesting to cross the borders and to find everything so different! It makes me think about New-York, living at the 96th street, in a whole white neighborhoud..a few blocks from there, all black... another worlld. And on the reservoir of Central park, ducks and seagulls who seemed to have learned from us, on one side, seagulls, on the other ducks, and duck policemen and seagull policemen going back and fro to keep the territory and push the strangers out... So far you have not witness such extreme behaviour, and in the contrary are witnessing friendship and wonderfull people... Will it be all the way down, though Africa? So far, I start thinking about going down myself soon...although I am very busy. My first two books of poetry as a publisher are coming out in a few days... Much love, Cécile

Ola,Darlings, of course u r drinking the wrong stuff! Never ,ever drink red vinho verde as it is desgusting. The white is fine. Ask from vinho do Alentejo, full-bodied and berry flavoured. Vinho da casa is always a risk but u might find good one. This is Quela´s e-mail address, maybe useful for u tto get in touch with her. See u soon!!!! Love from the 2 sis
