Paula, I have just finished Sahara and would like to congratulate you on both an incredible journey and a wonderful book.
I found both your achievements inspiring.
Of the many inspirations one that resonated loudly with me was your constant balancing of planning in minute detail before beginning a complex journey and "just starting out" and solving issues as they arose.
My occupation is general management and always I am faced with never knowing all the detail and committing resources to a goal. As I have experienced more (in business) I find I am increasingly comfortable with gaining enough knowledge, making a decision and solving issues as they pop us, as you did.
Thanks for a great read!

I remember feeling very hurt when someone described my long walks as selfish. Since long walks provide thinking time, I thought about it a lot. Now I frame it this way: would I rather live in a world where people strive for self-discovery, or one where they don't? What would become of the world if everyone who ever wanted to walk a thousand or ten thousand miles just got up and did it?
